Math and Science Teaching Jobs

Ignite passion for science and math as a middle school teacher at National Heritage Academies. Use your passion to design and deliver engaging lessons in math and science which develop the core skills students need for success in college and the modern workforce.

Math Is the Road to College

Research tells us that students who complete Algebra I by the end of 8th grade and enroll in a rigorous college preparatory high school program have over an 85% chance of graduating with a 4-year college degree. This a powerful projection and one that NHA has used to recalibrate expectations for students graduating from NHA. It has meant a change in our approach, beginning with kindergarten and affecting pace, rigor and instructional practices across grade levels.

A multi-year math plan is already in progress for the NHA students who may one day be in your classroom. Goals and targets have been set and measures are in place to track progress by proficiency standards and overall growth rates.

A Combined Math/Science Approach

As an NHA math teacher, you may also have the opportunity to teach science. (Please be sure to review applicable job descriptions for certification and endorsement requirements.)

Teaching both science and math can be a great way to show students “Math in Action” and to foster a cross disciplinary approach to instruction.

As a science teacher, you will teach

- the Scientific Method

- problem solving and

- critical thinking skills,

in addition to the basic facts and figures of our natural and biological worlds.

Your instruction will build core knowledge while demonstrating relevance and providing a hands-on approach to learning.
