- customized tools and resources for creating personalized plans for students.

Supported by a Professional Community

New Special Education teachers at NHA attend a tailored orientation program and are immediately paired with a mentor to ensure they are able to provide top caliber services to students from day one.  Regional Special Education Supervisors are also in place as experienced resources and problem solvers, available whenever the need arises. Supervisors are on site regularly and are available on a daily basis to provide hands on coaching and real world solutions.

This level of collaboration is the key to maintaining sharp professional skills across the entirety of the NHA Special Education team. National and regionalized training events help to promote relations and to keep staff current on new laws and changes which will affect them.

Data Paves the Way

NHA believes that student learning can be measured. Our Measurement Research and Accountability (MRA) team helps us use data in meaningful ways to understand what is working and where a change of strategy is needed to achieve results.

The power of this data is never more useful than in Special Education, where it may take several attempts before the correct intervention is identified. Our ability to make timely progress is directly related to our ability to track process, note trends, establish goals and hold ourselves accountable for our students’ learning.

MRA creates customized reports which bring this information to life for teachers and help direct resources to where they are most needed.

Not Just Special Education Teachers

Our Special Education teachers are part of a team of professionals who strive to meet the needs of each child. These professionals include:

- Occupational Therapists

- Physical Therapists

- Speech Language Pathologists

- Social Workers and

- Paraprofessionals.

Regular collaboration between these specialists and general education teachers create a team-oriented environment with a student focus.
